2.2% Lugol's Solution in a coloured glass dropper bottle. Contains 2.2% Iodine crystals and 4.4% Potassium Iodide in distilled water. If one assumes 20 drops for each millilitre (metric drop), that equals about 2.75 mg of Iodine/drop. Use for water purification, antiseptic for cuts, disinfectant, a biological stain, saltwater aquariums, radioactive iodine uptake inhibitor, pet & livestock nutrient, and supplementation.

You can put a drop or 2 on your skin and see how quickly the red colour disappears to determine qualitatively how deficient you are without ingesting it. There are several recommendations online, I have found if the iodine spot disappears in only 8 hours, you are highly deficient, if 24 hours, not as deficient. Be aware probably only 40% or so of the iodine is absorbed that is rubbed on the skin, some come off and some vaporize into the air.

2% Lugol’s is excellent for cuts and scraps because it does not burn as much when applied since it is water based and not an alcohol tincture.

Lugol's iodine solution is often used as an antiseptic and disinfectant, for emergency disinfection of drinking water, and as a reagent for starch detection in routine laboratory and medical tests.
